Electricity plays a central role in the economic
developement of the industrialized countries. In Finland, the world´s most
northern industrialized nation, electricity consumption per capita is
high. This is caused by the severe climate, long distances, the high
standard of living and the structure of the industry. The consumption of electricity and energy increases with the
standard of living. The total consumption of energy has more than
1,5-folded since the early 1970s. During the same period the industrial
output and the total volume on construction has more than doubled. |
